For those of you wanting to know what the long-awaited Charmed reboot would look like, the wait is finally over. The CW has unveiled a new extended four-minute trailer for the reimagined show plus a clip of one of the show’s scenes.
This new version of Charmed is being reimagined by Jane the Virgin creator Jennie Urman, who wrote the pilot episode and is serving as exeucitve producer. Like the original series produced by Aaron Spelling that ran on The WB from 1998 through 2006, the show centers on three sisters who discover that they are powerful witches charmed with magical abilities.
The trailer shows two sisters dealing with the suspicious death of her mother as they meet a third long-lost sister. Together, they learn that their mother was indeed murdered and that they are a trio of powerful witches destined to save the world. Supernatural antics may or may not ensue.
In this scene The CW has teased, the sisters are tied up in their attic and told by a mysterious stranger that they are in fact witches. “Witches,” he elaborates, “who are destined to save the world from impending doom.” So. You know. No pressure or anything.
There had been some speculation as to whether this rebooted show would take place in the present day or in the 1970s, but seeing as how the characters are texting in the trailer, the show is obviously occurring in modern times.
Charmed will air Sundays this fall on The CW.
