For those of us who didn’t get to check out the live stream about Desolation of Smaug, director Peter Jackson has been kind enough to post a 6-minute excerpt where he gets down and dirty about the upcoming Hobbit sequel.

The studio hosted a live stream with Jackson about a week ago for fans who purchased The Hobbit on Blu-ray and DVD (the packaging came with a login code), but now Jackson has pulled some of the footage and let it out into the wild.

The format is basically a Q&A, with Jackson answering fan questions about everything from the challenges of adapting Tolkien’s work to what we can expect from the remaining two films in the series.

Plus, there’s also some new behind-the-scenes footage tossed in for good measure. Swords! Hobbits! Hooray!

Check out the featurette below:

Desolation of Smaug is set to open Dec. 13. Do you think The Hobbit is a worthy addition to the Lord of the Rings filmography?
