Let's face it. Sir Patrick Stewart confirming the rumors that he would be returning as Captain Jean-Luc Picard for a brand-new Star Trek series on CBS All Access was the best thing ever since the invention of the transporter, the holodeck, replicators, and sliced bread.

It's no wonder, then, that the exciting news revealed during the Las Vegas Star Trek convention took one of the top spots in our latest video edition of Who Won the Week (August 6-10), co-hosted by SYFY WIRE's Jackie Jennings and contributing editor Dany Roth.

While we don't know much about the new series, the fact that we'll get to see Picard back in action 20 years later is enough to make us wish we had a time machine so we could watch the new series now. Since we don't have one, we settled by making a list of the Trek characters we'd like to see on Picard's new series.

The second thing that won our week was the news that an unpublished, non-canon The Wheel of Time story was going to be published in the upcoming anthology Unfettered III in March 2019, featuring the character of Perrin traveling into the Ways. An honorable mention goes to the new trailer for Netflix's upcoming miniseries Maniac, starring Jonah Hill and Emma Stone, set to debut on the streaming giant on September 21.

These are the geeky things that won our week. How about you? Let us know in the comments below, and as Picard would say: Make it so!
