Fear not if you felt a disturbance in the Schwartz, because it’s good news for a change. You can hear Rick Moranis reprising his role as the Darth Vader inspired character Dark Helmet from Mel Brooks’ 1980s Star Wars spoof — Spaceballs — in the latest episode of ABC’s The Goldbergs.
The show's pop culture obsessed teen, Alex, becomes mildly obsessed with Brooks and his work so much so that he has a dream where he has a "lightsaber" fight with Dark Helmet in a dream montage. Unfortunately, that's not Moranis under the all-black garb, but this is the most we've heard of the Canadian actor since his voiceover work from Disney's Brother Bear animated features. Moranis took a hiatus to be a stay-at-home father after his wife Ann Belsky passed away.
Moranis is famous for such roles in classic films like The Ghostbusters, Honey, I Shrunk The Kids!, and The Flintstones. Hopefully, this is a sign for more to come from the fan favorite. Fingers crossed for a My Blue Heaven sequel with Steve Martin.
