Cosplay is common at San Diego Comic-Con, but it's rare for a cast member of a major genre film to show up for an interview in costume for somebody else's property. And yet when it came time for the cast of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald to speak with us at the SYFY WIRE studio in San Diego, Ezra Miller just couldn't resist cosplaying as Toadette. In fact, he wore the costume to the Fantastic Beasts panel as well, and he even told us why he was drawn to this particular 'Fantastic Beast' from another realm of fandom.
Once that explanation was out of the way, Miller and his fellow cast members Jude Law, Zoë Kravitz, Claudia Kim, and Callum Turner were able to talk to us about the upcoming return to J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World. Law is stepping into the franchise as a young Albus Dumbledore, but he made sure to indicate that this Dumbledore isn't the same as his older incarnation from the Harry Potter films. At least not yet.
"It was pretty clear what was required of him as a character when you read the script," said Law. "The script evolved as we made the film and David Yates, the director, was very encouraging that I make [Dumbledore] my own, remembering that there's a long way for Dumbledore to go before he becomes a Dumbledore that we will know about and are familiar with in the Harry Potter books."
