This fall, the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted is opening up at The CW! The Vampire Diaries and The Originals may be over, but their world will continue with Legacies, a new series that will follow the next generation of witches, werewolves, and vampires. As you can see in this video from Comic-Con, SYFY WIRE caught up with Legacies stars Jenny Boyd and Matthew Davis, as well as creator Julie Plec, who colorfully described Davis' headmaster Alaric Saltzman while setting the stage for the first season.

"We call him 'the human Dumbledore,'" said Plec. "He's the headmaster and the recruiter. He goes out and he finds kids that are about to step into a heap of trouble because of how they were born or what they are. He rescues them and takes them in. His whole goal is to protect them and teach them how to be the best parts of themselves."

For Legacies, Davis is reprising his Vampire Diaries role of Alaric, and the actor seemed excited about the opportunity to continue his character's evolution.

"I ultimately didn't feel like we finished his story," offered Davis. "So this is our opportunity to finish and tell his story. I think you're going to see him in control... You're gonna see him keeping in balance the forces of good and evil."

Another familiar face headlining this spinoff is Danielle Rose Russell as Hope Mikaelson, the daughter of Klaus Mikaelson and Hayley Marshall. Russell hinted that the remaining episodes of The Originals will illustrate some of the changes she has undergone when Legacies begins.

"You're still seeing her development because there’s two more episodes left that will dictate a lot of how she is in the two years prior to Legacies," said Russell. "In Legacies, she's 17, and she's been through a lot and matured quite a bit. She's a little sassy and doesn’t like to get too close to people."

Davis also joked with us about Alaric's Tinder profile before he and Russell told us which characters from their previous shows they would like the chance to portray. Check out the entire video, then let us know in the comments what you're hoping to see in the new show!
