The new season of Doctor Who premieres this fall on BBC America, and at San Diego Comic-Con this week, we got a chance to interview the cast, producer and showrunner! We interviewed Jodie Whittaker (Thirteen), Tosin Cole (Ryan) and Mandip Gill (Yasmin), along with showrunner/executive producer Chris Chibnall and executive producer Matt Strevens... and got some info for you Whovians.
Whittaker talked all about what it means to her to be the first female Doctor in the show's five-decade-plus history and how much it means for little girls to be able to aspire to be the Doctor as well as the Companion. We got a tease about whether or not we'll get a new sonic for the Doctor and if there will be a new TARDIS design. And we learned all about the new Companions, how they wowed Strevens with their auditions, and how they keep the Doctor cheery. (Last season was a bit rough on our favorite Time Lord.)
In addition, we heard about whether or not Twelve's advice — "Run far, run fast and be kind" — will set the tone for the season. As a bonus, Jodi Whittaker has a message for fans of the long-running series.
Are you guys excited for the new season of Doctor Who? What do you think of Jodie Whittaker as the new Doctor and the brand new group of Companions? What would you like to see in the new TARDIS design? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
