Manifest is a new Lost-like supernatural drama from executive producers Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump, Back to the Future Trilogy) and Jack Rapke, chronicling the events following the disappearance and subsequent reappearance of Montego Air Flight 828 after a violent jolt of turbulence in 2013. But when the rattled airliner lands, the world has inexplicably aged five years in the span of those few short hours.

This compelling premise sets up what is sure to be one of the fall season's most provocative series, as the passengers and crews' friends, families, and co-workers cope with this unexpected event after abandoning all hope and mourning their loss. A deeper mystery begins to unfold for these displaced persons as the passengers become aware of a greater destiny awaiting them in this displaced future.

SYFY WIRE joined creator and co-executive producer Jeff Rake and stars Josh Dallas and Melissa Roxburgh at SDCC 2018 to find out if this new event mystery series was inspired by the doomed flight of Malaysian Airlines 370, which vanished over the Indian Ocean back in 2014, and learned what viewers can expect from the main characters as they integrate back into a society that has left them behind.

Manifest premieres on NBC on September 24.
