If you're interested at all in Spider-Man: Homecoming, then there's zero chance you're unaware of the massive advance buzz on the movie.

We're not here to dissuade you. We think it's spectacular and perhaps the purest on-screen representation of Marvel's flagship hero ever. A big reason for that is director Jon Watts, who also helped write the screenplay with five others, and took Spidey back to his roots in Forest Hills. This is Ditko/Lee-era Spidey, when a teenaged Peter Parker was learning the ropes of being a superhero while also struggling with being Midtown High's biggest wallflower.

We spoke with Watts and star Tom Holland to get their take on Spidey's full immersion into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and why humor was an important part of the movie. We also asked Watts and Holland to share which era of Spider-Man's comic book existence they relate to most.

Watch the video for their answers, and then head to the comments to tell us what you think! Spider-Man: Homecoming opens on July 7.
