It might not be the most popular t series out there, but Enterprise certainly built its own contingent of fans during its four-season run. Part of the reason? The lovable Doctor Phlox.

With the franchise’s 50th anniversary upon us, we caught up with John Billingsley to talk about the legacy of Enterprise and the character he brought to life. Billingsley famously played the ship’s alien physician Doctor Phlox, and he opened up about what it’s like to be a member of the Trek family and the legacy of his character.

The actor said he really enjoyed the opportunity to play a role in the world-building of e, introducing new elements from Doctor Phlox’s alien race and getting to represent an entire alien species on-screen. He also talked about the fact that, no matter what you do later in life, you’ll always be a Star Trek actor. Thankfully, he’s pretty cool with that distinction.
