The first trailer did a good job of setting a creepy tone, but our latest look at Morgan sets the stakes for what looks to be one of the freakiest sci-fi horror flicks of the year.

It feels like a more straight-up horror spin on Ex Machina (Alien meets Ex Machina, maybe?), with a corporate troubleshooter (Kate Mara) sent to a remote, top-secret location to investigate and evaluate a terrifying mystery. Once she gets there, she meets an engineered human who holds “both infinite promise and incalculable danger.” The young girl, Morgan, is apparently grown from programmed DNA and turns out to be incredibly smart and dangerous, and apparently has some super-freaky telekinesis.

The film comes from director Luke Scott, son of the much more famous Ridley Scott. Morgan is Luke’s feature directorial debut, and it seems the horror that made Ridley a household name certainly runs in the family.

Morgan opens Sept. 2.
