Sure, the first Star Wars film might’ve been risky — but after it was a proven hit, the sequels were easy money. In fact, the studio was so confident in the franchise, the first teaser for Empire Strikes Back didn’t even feature any footage. Really!

The first teaser for Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back has resurfaced, and it seems the clip was comprised solely of concept art created by artist Ralph McQuarrie, which gives it a level of badassdom that rivals the actual film itself. Seriously, it's awesome.

Set against a melodramatic score, with a bombastic narrator explaining the stakes, the trailer is about as fantastic as it gets. Plus, it offers a look at some of the art George Lucas and company were using to put together the look and feel of the sequel. Win win.

Check out the footage above and marvel at the classic sci-fi awesomeness.
