Stan Lee is a busy man. Among the slew of awesome Marvel projects the comic-book legend has on his plate is an original SYFY horror movie he executive-produced titled The Sandman. Ahead of the film’s debut next month, a spooky first teaser has been released.

Slated to premiere on Oct. 14 at 9 p.m., the movie stars Tobin Bell (the Saw films), Haylie Duff (Napoleon Dynamite), Shaun Sipos (The Vampire Diaries), Amanda Wyss (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Ricco Ross (Aliens), and Shae Smolik (The Hatred).

Penned and directed by Peter Sullivan (Ominous, Summoned), The Sandman (not to be confused with the Neil Gaiman property) follows the story of an 8-year-old girl named Madison (Smolik) who goes to live with her struggling artist aunt Claire (Duff) after her father is found dead.

Doesn’t take long before Auntie Claire discovers her niece Madison has powers, including the ability to manifest a boogeyman called The Sandman. Add to that a clandestine government agency, a sinister character named Valentine (played by Tobin Bell), and supernatural goings-on, and The Sandman has all the ingredients to be a solid horror movie.

Check out the first teaser trailer, and let us know if you plan on catching The Sandman come Oct. 14 on SYFY.
