From everything that unfolded on The Walking Dead last season, there's reason to be a little anxious if you're a fan right now. Where will the show take us for Season 9? How will Rick depart? What will the time jump mean for fan favorites like Carol, Daryl, and Michonne?
Well, we won't get very specific answers to those questions until the show returns later this year, but the new trailer that just rocked Hall H made one thing very clear: This show still knows how to bring the drama and gore.
As AMC’s brand-new, super-high-energy extended trailer shows, it’s the people who may be Sanctuary’s biggest threat as Season 9 whips into gear. Not that the zombies are taking a back seat, mind you (stay till the end for a hair-raising near miss to see what we mean):
Even before The Walking Dead arrived Friday at SDCC, turning all eyes toward Hall H, change was in the air for AMC's hit zombie series. After the battles of Season 8, Season 9 promises to jump forward in time, take our heroes to new places to face new threats, and even send off the show's lead, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln).
Plus, there's all that tension between Rick, Maggie, and Daryl still lingering, and the Negan is still alive, even if he's been somewhat neutralized. Lincoln addressed his departure during the show’s panel, leaving the door wide open for plot lines that the trailer, with its decidedly stakes-raising vibe, has us eager to watch unfold.
The Walking Dead returns for Season 9 this fall beginning October 7 on AMC.
