It's crazy to think about the journey that Spawn has taken since the character burst into existence in 1992. The hellspawned hero has had an uninterrupted run of success, much longer than probably everyone not named Todd McFarlane ever expected. Now, celebrating its silver anniversary as arguably the most successful independent comics character ever, what does Spawn's creator think of the character's impact?
SYFY WIRE spent the day recently with McFarlane to get his thoughts on everything from which early Spawn stories still stand out (hint: it's disturbing as hell) to how the title has been a launching pad for a handful of great talent. But what we found most interesting were McFarlane's hopes for the character's legacy -- although a close second was finding out his most enjoyable moment from the HBO animated Spawn series.
