Though the TV and movie stuff gets a good bit of the attention, comic conventions are still all about the comics. So we took a stroll down artists’ alley at the recent New York Comic Con to hang out with a few of our favorite creators.
We caught up with comic artists including Cat Staggs, Alex Saviuk, Amy Mebberson, Adriano Melo and Jerry Hunter to talk about what it’s like to write some of the coolest characters in DC and Marvel’s line-up. We get some original works ranging from Wonder Woman to Disney princesses and a few Spider-Men, of course. These legendary artists walk us through their processes for creating these characters, and the visual flourishes involved with getting the little details right.
We also get into the weird side of artists’ alley, and ask they about some of the weirdest things they’ve ever been asked to draw (standouts: Peter Parker in a diaper, some kinky, R-rated character crossovers). Yeah, it gets a little out there.
