Quite a few things happened recently in the wonderful world of geekdom: The Tomb Raider movie reboot starring Oscar-winner Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft finally opened on the big screen on Friday (albeit to mixed reviews), Marvel blessed us with yet another exciting Avengers: Infinity War trailer, and the second season of Jessica Jones debuted on Netflix the previous week. Oh, and the first magical trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald also dropped.

Contributing Editor Karama Horne is joined by Editor-in-chief Adam Swiderski to weigh-in in our latest video edition of Who Won the Week. Since last week we covered stuff that took place during 2018’s Emerald City Comic Con, SYFY WIRE has decided to make it a special case by selecting Ava DuVernay’s adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s 1963 award-winning classic fantasy novel A Wrinkle in Time as the first item that won the week for us. The second contender on our list is Marvel’s Jessica Jones.

Much like Tomb Raider, A Wrinkle in Time did not win the critics over. But there are still quite a few positive things to say about the House of Mouse’s big screen adaptation such as the film boasting some gorgeous visuals, great costumes and FX; as well as strong performances by the movie’s young star, Storm Reid, and Star Trek's Chris Pine. As for Jessica Jones, the show boasts a great lineup of female directors, more diverse casting, and a great nemesis for Krysten Ritter’s character in Janet McTeer’s Alisa Jones.
