This was a pretty big one for nerddom and entertainment in general. From the Golden Globes to Marvel’s Black Panther movie unleashing pre-sale tickets upon the world, a lot happened to make geeks everywhere happy as clams. So, you know, we just had to chat about it.

SYFY WIRE’s Jackie Jennings and Karama Horne were on hand to discuss the exciting happenings of January 8-12, 2018, and take a look at the contenders of our latest video edition of Who Won the Week.

As some of you know, sci-fi and fantasy got some of the highest honors during last Sunday's 75th Annual Golden Globes, including Guillermo del Toro landing the Best Director award for his Cold War fairy tale starring Star Trek: Discovery star Doug Jones and Oscar-nominated actress Sally Hawkins, The Shape of Water ... which also lwon Best Score, but sadly not Best Motion Picture - Drama.

On the TV side of things, Hulu's adaptation of Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale upset Game of Thrones by nabbing the award for Best Drama Series, while star Elisabeth Moss won the coveted prize for Best Actress. Other contenders this week include Amazon's new series Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams, as well as Amazon’s new anime service (because the world totally needs more anime), Anime Strike.

But these were not the only ones vying for the crown, as you can see in our video above. Do you agree with our choice for Who Won the Week? If not, let us know what's your personal choice.
