It's been eight years since the twisty time-travel tale Primer became one of the most acclaimed indie sci-fi films ever. Now director Shane Carruth is back—and if you thought Primer was weird, you haven't seen anything yet.
Dubbed Upstream Color, the strange new film looks to be a character study wrapped up in a bizarre sci-fi shell about an "ageless organism." It's nice to see that Carruth hasn't lost his flair for the bizarre, and we're curious to see what he's cooked up in the near-decade he's been away.
Here's the film's official (albeit vague) synopsis:
"A man and woman are drawn together, entangled in the life cycle of an ageless organism. Identity becomes an illusion as they struggle to assemble the loose fragments of wrecked lives."Check out the trailer right here:
What do you think? Can Carruth capture that Primer magic once again?
