Watch the CGI short Fox thinks could be a hit sci-fi franchise

Fox has fallen in love with a new sci-fi short film, and has fast-tracked a full-length version with McG signed on to produce. Want to see the eight-minute CGI clip that started it all?

Ruin, created by Wes Ball, is an action-packed short film set in a post-apocalyptic world. The effects are top-notch, and some shots were actually included in the initial trailer for J.J. Abrams' Revolution (with permission, of course).

Ball has signed on to direct the live-action feature version, and is now writing a script with T.S. Nowlin. McG wants to produce, and Star Wars: The Clone Wars exec Steve Tzirlin is also involved.

Fox is apparently pretty psyched about it, and The Hollywood Reporter sees it as a potential franchise.

Check out the short below:

What do you think? Could this concept work as a full-length movie?
