A true success story of the DVR age, Fox’s event series Wayward Pines officially returns for a second season later this month. So, what can we expect from the creepiest little town on the planet this year?

Though the first season was conceived as a miniseries with a set ending, time-shifted viewership turned the show into a big enough success that the network decided to bring producer M. Night Shyamalan back for another 10-episode run. The new season picks up in the wake of Season 1, but jumps ahead enough that new fans can tune in and not be entirely lost. Jason Patric will star in Season 2, providing a new character to reintroduce this bizarre world once again.

The season begins with the residents of Wayward Pines battling against the iron-fisted rule of the First Generation. Dr. Theo Yedlin (Jason Patric) — a new resident of Wayward Pines — awakens from suspended animation and finds himself in the middle of this rebellion as he tries to understand what Wayward Pines really is and help preserve the endangered human race.

Along with Patric, the cast for Season 2 also includes  Djimon Hounsou (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Hope Davis (Disconnect). Season 1 alums Carla Gugino (Roadies), Melissa Leo (The Fighter) and Terrence Howard (Empire) will also be back.

The second season of Wayward Pines premieres May 25 on Fox.
