We predict Walking Dead's death odds: Who'll be the next to go?

Considering the body count that's been racked up during the last couple of episodes of AMC's The Walking Dead, things aren't looking good for our little band of survivors as we head into the season-two finale next Sunday.

And considering that executive producer and Walking Dead universe creator Robert Kirkman said, "I can say that the cast that enters the final episode this season does not leave the final episode intact," it's pretty much a given that the odds are about to run out for at least some of the survivors.

[Spoilers ahead!]

But who's going to die? So far this season Sophia, Dale and Shane (and, okay, Otis) have bitten the dust. And with a herd of Walkers headed toward Rick, Carl and the house, it's bound to be one hell of a fight for the remaining survivors, with only some of them making it to next year's season three.

We've put together our best guess as to the odds that each survivor gets eaten, ripped apart and/or bitten, turning into a Walker only to get a bullet to the head. One thing's for certain ... it's going to get bloody.

Rick Grimes—Death Odds: 1,000,000 to 1
Played by Andrew Lincoln

Yes, The Walking Dead producers could decide to pull a Game of Thrones on us and take out Rick, but we don't think so. Rick just killed his former best friend, Shane, and has lots of guilt just waiting to be heaped upon him in the third season. And as long as Carl or Lori is around and needs protecting, he's going to do whatever it takes to stay alive.

Carl Grimes—Death Odds: 1,000 to 1
Played by Chandler Riggs

Too often Carl is one of those annoying kids you just want to slap. And really, someone needs to put a leash on that kid. However, there's virtually no way we'd lose Sophia AND Carl in the same season. Besides, Rick has to have at least one person in his family to fight for, or there's no reason for him to continue on his hero's path.

Daryl Dixon—Death Odds: 200 to 1
Played by Norman Reedus

Oh, we love Daryl, and he's the odds-on favorite to be the next Shane. He keeps the ears of the Walkers he's killed, he doesn't mind torturing a captive and stepping up to put a bullet in Dale's head when Rick couldn't do it. There's more than a little bit of crazy in his genes (aka Merle), and sometimes he's with the group and sometimes he isn't, which makes him interesting and conflicted. Without Shane, we need him.

Andrea—Death Odds: 100 to 1
Played by Laurie Holden

If Daryl does bite it, then Andrea is our next choice to pull a Crazy Shane on us. She's an outsider and has enough anger for the entire group. She's got her own pile of guilt to deal with for a third season, and even more now that Dale has been ripped apart by a Walker. Plus she's tough as hell and isn't afraid to put Rick in his place. He needs to have someone around to do that next season.

Lori Grimes—Death Odds: 100 to 1
Played by Sarah Wayne Callies

We actually wouldn't mind losing Lori. There's been some missteps by the writers that have made her character often unlikable and illogical, to the point where you have to wonder what Rick and Shane ever saw in her. However, then she went off in the last episode and gave that heart-wrenching speech to Shane, apologizing and telling him thanks. Well, it was the best thing we've seen from Lori all season. Plus she's pregnant, she'll share Rick's guilt over Shane, and there's more drama to be mined from her.

Glenn—Death Odds: 75 to 1
Played by Steven Yeun

We still love Glenn, even though he didn't get much to do for the first part of the season and then he went all weird on Maggie when she threw herself at him. She's one of the last women on Earth, and she's hot. Huh? Anyway, he's still willing to let the group lower him into a well on top of that squishy Walker, to go into town to scoop up a pregnancy test, or to put a knife through Randall's head when he goes all Walker on him. We just don't think the writers are done with this gentle hero quite yet.

Maggie Greene—Death Odds: 25 to 1
Played by Lauren Cohan

We rather like Maggie, who has a mind of her own and a survivor's strength. While we're not as optimistic about her family's chances, it's hard to imagine the whole romantic setup with Glenn ending before it's really begun.

Carol Peletier—Death Odds: 10 to 1
Played by Melissa McBride

While we like Carol's relationship with Daryl and her angst about losing Sophia, we know it's only a matter of time before Carol becomes Walker food. Yes, it's hard to imagine how Lori's going to do all that cooking and cleaning without her, but maybe Maggie will pitch in.

Beth Greene—Death Odds: 2 to 1
Played by Emily Kinney

She tried to kill herself after her Walker mother tried to eat her face, which, yes, is bound to mess with a girl's head. Weak characters haven't done well on this show. However, the writers like tortured souls, so it's possible she could make it through the finale, but not likely if Maggie survives. One of them is certain to die.

T-Dog—Death Odds: 2 to 1
Played by IronE Singleton

What the heck? T-Dog has managed to just about vanish from the storyline. That situation didn't bode well for Sophia, and we don't think it does much for T-Dog's chances. While we probably won't lose both Carol and T-Dog, we can't imagine a finale without one of them going bye-bye, and the writers don't seem to know what to do with him.

Patricia—Death Odds: Even
Played by Jane McNeill

Except for a couple moments when Otis died, we can barely remember her. In fact, let's just say "Goodbye, Patricia!" right now. It's time to cull the excess from the group.

Hershel Greene—Death Odds: Even
Played by Scott Wilson

We already know Hershel's going to say (thanks to the preview) that he's not leaving his farm and his shotgun isn't going to take out all those Walkers. Besides, strong Hershel vanished after the Walker barn massacre, and he's certainly going to sacrifice himself in an attempt to save at least one of his daughters. Or maybe make sure one of his daughters doesn't die alone. Goodbye, Hershel!

Jimmy—Death Odds: 1 to 1,000,000
Played by James McCune

Jimmy who? He's the Sophia of the season, and we'd be shocked if he doesn't meet a death-by-Walker fate. Goodbye, Jimmy!

The Walking Dead's season-two finale airs next Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
