Wedge Antilles is a popular character most fans know from Star Wars: A New Hope as one of Luke Skywalker's X-wing buddies during the Battle of Yavin, and an integral part of the Death Star trench run as an ace pilot of Red Squadron.  In the original trilogy he was played onscreen by Denis Lawson.  Skywalker and Antilles were the sole survivors of the daring attack force, and Wedge later became a respected leader of Rogue Squadron in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

Now the charismatic Corellian wil get his own revised backstory courtesy of the inventive writing staff of Star Wars Rebels in the next episode, titled "The Antilles Extraction," with a younger Wedge defecting from the Imperial Academy instead of joining the rebellion after his girlfriend was killed in the Empire's assault on his home planet, as described in the Star Wars Expanded Universe.

Have a look at this new clip with Wedge meeting an incognito Sabine and establishing his new backstory, then tell us if you prefer this altered version better.  Star Wars Rebels airs on Saturday, Oct. 8, on Disney XD at 8:30 pm ET/PT.
