Welcome to Night Vale, the podcast from creators Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor, is making it to the small screen. According to Deadline, FX Network has picked it up for a development deal.

Welcome to Night Vale is a podcast done in the style of a local radio show, which reports on the weird and wacky stories in a fictional Southwestern desert town. The twice-monthly podcast started in 2012 and has been downloaded 180 million times.

Gennifer Hutchison, currently an executive producer on Better Call Saul, will adapt the podcast for television. Fink and Cranor will also be attached as executive producers.

In addition to the TV show, Harper Perennial will publish "script books" from Seasons 3 and 4 of the podcast. These volumes will include introductions by the guest stars and creators and include illustrations by Jessica Hayworth. Harper Perennial previously published script books for the first two seasons of the podcast, Mostly Void, Partially Stars, and The Great Glowing Coils of the Universe.

Fink and Cranor have also written two novels set in the Welcome to Night Vale universe: Welcome to Night Vale and It Devours! Both are written from the point of view of citizens of Night Vale, detailing specific events in their town.
