UPDATE: Production on part of Westworld's second season has been halted after one of its cast members experienced a medical emergency away from the set.

"Due to a medical emergency involving a performer in a recurring role on season 2 of Westworld, filming on one of the two units has been temporarily suspended," HBO said in a statement to SYFY WIRE. "The cast member was not on set when this occurred, and out of respect for the performer’s privacy, we have no additional details to share, other than that everyone at Westworld sincerely hopes for a quick recovery."

TMZ was the first to break the story, which cited a "source close to production" who claimed that the emergency was a head injury sustained by a male cast member at his home.

The Wrap identified the injured cast member as Zahn McClarnon, who joined the show's sophomore season in an unspecified role. It also reported on the exact date of the incident with the following statement obtained from HBO:

“Actor Zahn McClarnon was hospitalized Wednesday night after sustaining an injury at home. He is on the mend and looking forward to getting back to work. Westworld will resume filming on both units next week."

McClarnon has been a prolific actor in the world of television since the early '90s, lending his talents to dozens of shows over the years like Baywatch, NYPD Blue, Medium, Frontier, Timeless, The SonFargo, and Midnight, Texas (shown above, as Zach).

Based on Michael Crichton's 1973 film of the same name, Westworld is about a futuristic theme park modeled after the American West where patrons can live out their fantasies of being cowboys and outlaws. The first season revolved around the park's artificially intelligent androids gaining self-awareness and rising up against their human creators and abusers. Season 2 will most likely be about the struggle between the two parties.
