It was a sad day for Karen Gillan—who plays the Doctor's (Matt Smith) companion Amy Pond on Doctor Who—when she filmed her last scene on the show last Saturday. But at least the actress came out of her time on Who with a little something extra special from the TARDIS set to keep as a souvenir.

Speaking with the Daily Record while she's strutting her stuff at the world-famous Cannes Film Festival, the actress revealed how the last day on set was actually ''serene,'' even though Matt Smith, Arthur Darvill (who plays her hubby Rory) and she shed buckets of tears on that day:

"It was a weird, serene day where everyone was feeling it. We don't film in chronological order so the last shot we filmed was me, Matt and Arthur going into the TARDIS. Then Matt closed the door for the last time and we were in darkness. We hugged and started crying. It was kind of tears of happiness. It was a feeling of 'Look at what we've done'. It was lovely."

Gillan also revealed that she wasn't allowed to keep any of the costumes she wore as Amy on the series (What!? BOO!):

"I didn't get to keep any Pond stuff because everything related to Doctor Who goes into exhibitions.''

However, the actress admitted she didn't actually leave empty-handed either, saying:

"But I might have taken a little special something from the TARDIS. A pair of binoculars. They look really weird in my house, just sitting there."

Still, let's all of us just pretend we haven't really read that now, shall we?

Doctor Who will return with what will be the final season of the Ponds in the fall. Are you guys looking forward to more wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey shenanigans? Will you miss Amy and Rory?
