When it comes to Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, they're keeping it close to the vest. James Gunn was recently confirmed as the director, and now we're waiting on the cast. Thanks to a recent interview, we've learned that a Walking Dead star and Gunn collaborator has his eye on Rocket Raccoon.

Like most directors, Gunn has worked with the same actors multiple times. Nathan Fillion's had that honor, and so has Michael Rooker. We wouldn't mind if both appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy, but Fillon's made it clear that Castle's his priority.

So what about Rooker? The actor is committed to his day job as The Walking Dead's Merle, but he's open to the idea. "I love raccoons. Raccoons are my friends," Rooker laughed. He revealed he's a fan of the character and would make room in his schedule to accommodate the film.

"I haven't done much research on it at all yet. Because I don't know what is going to happen. I'm really crazy busy with The Walking Dead right now. But you know what? Write this up. Tweet the #$@! out of it. If the fans want me as Rocket Raccoon, Marvel will listen to you guys, I think, sometimes ... Perhaps I will be lucky and blessed enough to go in there, and go at it with Mr. Gunn again, who knows? "

He's right. Marvel does have a habit of listening to fans. Rocket Raccoon will likely be a CGI creation, and Rooker is no stranger to voice acting. He could be a good fit.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy opens Aug. 1, 2014.

What do you think? Should Rooker be the man behind the raccoon?
