What's more adorable than a Porg in The Last Jedi? A baby Porg

Porgs have yet to be seen on the big screen in the latest Star Wars sequel The Last Jedi, yet Porg-mania is sweeping fandom. But these adorable avian creatures are about to get even more delightful: According to Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, The Last Jedi will feature baby Porgs.

Kennedy made the revelation on the latest episode of The Star Wars Show, in which she also discussed a host of other Star Wars goodies such as the fact that there will be more Star Wars movies after Episode IX. But we weren’t paying attention, because... Porgs.

"Rian Johnson, I don't have enough accolades to say about him ... He's done an exceptional job of taking these new characters and some of the legacy characters and moving us to this next place," Kennedy said of The Last Jedi's director. "He just has such an incredibly fertile imagination. There's a brief little moment in The Last Jedi where there's a Porg and then there's a little baby Porg next to the Porg ... It doesn't get better than that."

We’ve already seen quite a bit of Porg coverage — there's the evolutionary backstory of the creatures, a Porg battle song, and let's not forget this Porg-wearing Halloween partyer who ran into none other than The Last Jedi director himself.

The Porgs are cuddle-able enough as it is, but a baby Porg? That’s a whole lot of potential squishing of Porg faces. We don’t just mean this figuratively: A study done in 2013 states that cute leads to aggression. (But does it lead to anger?)

Star Wars has seen its share of cute. R2-D2 is a feisty droid whose beeps and buzzes make him instantly huggable, while BB-8 manages to exude the charm of an exuberant child. Although the Ewoks were deliberately designed to ensnare us with their fluffy features, only the baby Ewok shined with pure adorability. (Also, fact: The Topps trading card of the baby Ewok from Return of the Jedi graced our high school locker door.)
