Director Joss Whedon will be expanding the roster with Avengers: Age of Ultron, and now he’s finally dropped some hints about what he’ll be doing with Scarlet Witch. The big news? She’ll have a whole new look.
Chatting with Nerdist, Whedon opened up a bit about how he’ll be handling the addition of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. When asked if he’ll keep Scarlet Witch’s comic-booky (but kick-ass) half-helmet, Whedon said it will most definitely be heading to the chopping block.
But that doesn’t mean they won’t pay homage to the design:
“No. She might wear a headband or something that might echo it. The guys at Marvel, the conceptual artists, are phenomenal, and they are so good at taking the essence of what works and interpreting it for the actual human body, and when they paint something you can not only tell how it’s gonna work on a person, you can even tell what fabric it’ll be. They are very specific, very talented. So I’m excited to see the designs. Obviously we want to echo the look that people know, but there’s the classic look and the Ultimates look, but you have to do it in a way that will work. But it can’t be too old school … she can’t wear a leotard.”
Considering the Marvel Cinematic Universe has made quite a few changes to the comic canon the past few years, mostly for the good, all we can really do is put our faith in Whedon that he’ll be able to figure it all out.
What design elements do you hope they keep, or drop, in the Avengers sequel?
