Joss Whedon's made a major move with his S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot. After confirming Clark Gregg's return, he's brought another actor on board. Gregg's Agent Coulson will be joined by someone described as "soulful and slightly damaged."

Whedon has recruited Ming-Na Wen for his revamped S.H.I.E.L.D. team. The actress is no stranger to television, as she's appeared on ER, Stargate Universe and Eureka. According to Deadline, Ming-Na will play a character called Agent Melinda May. She's a combat veteran who's a pilot, weapons expert and seasoned soldier.

On the original casting breakdown, May was listed as Agent Althea Rice, aka the Cavalry. That's two down, several more to go before the S.H.I.E.L.D. cast is complete. The pilot episode's being co-written by Joss, his brother Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen. They'll also executive-produce alongside Marvel's Jeph Loeb.

What do you think of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s newest addition?
