Director James Gunn may have a special role planned for a frequent collaborator, who happens to be a Joss Whedon favorite. Over the weekend, Nathan Fillion appeared at Wizard World Comic-Con in St. Louis, where he dropped some major casting news.

A fan asked whether Fillion wanted to get a part in Guardians of the Galaxy. The actor responded, “Wanting to get a part ... or maybe did?” As you can imagine, the crowd went wild before allowing Fillion to finish his statement. “I’m just saying maybe. Maybe you’ll be surprised. Maybe. Check the credits.” Can we make this so? Could Fillion be telling the truth, or is he just messing with fans?

To be fair, Robert Downey Jr. did something similar at the Los Angeles press conference for The Avengers. He jokingly said the cast would be shooting a secret scene later that day. Journalists weren't sure if he was telling the truth because his co-stars and director (Whedon) were playing it coy. But later we learned that he really did let the cat out of the bag. The cast went back for a reshoot that featured the Avengers stuffing their faces with shawarma.

Marvel's known for its secrecy, but every once in a while someone slips (intentionally or not). Watch Fillion's tease at the 38:40 mark.
