Who gets to live? New Walking Dead trailer poses that question

Rick Grimes is prepared to do anything to stay alive.

That seems to be the takeaway from this new trailer for the second half of season five of The Walking Dead. Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his people have had a tough time of it recently, escaping from the cannibalistic horrors of Terminus only to deal with more grief and loss at Grady Memorial Hospital right before the midseason break -- not to mention finding out that there is no cure for the zombie plague after all (thanks, Eugene).

It might be difficult to keep everyone focused and moving forward, but Rick is determined to do it. "We do what we need to do, and then we get to live" is his mantra in the teaser, and the bulk of the 30-second spot is heavy on action, violence and cutting down walkers. But how long can the group stay on the road, with nowhere to go and seemingly nothing to look forward to, and retain their humanity? When does the phrase "the walking dead" refer not just to reanimated corpses but living, breathing human beings? It certainly seems like the line may be blurring more and more between the living and the dead.

We'll find out soon enough just how far over the line our heroes could go. The Walking Dead returns to AMC on Sunday, Feb. 8, at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.
