Given that this news comes from the Damon Lindelof camp, secrecy is the name of the game. We don't know what 1952 is about. We don't know when it'll come out. It's really just an educated guess that it's science fiction at all. But we do know the players of the game—and the filmmaker who signed on is a doozy.
Fresh from conquering the globe with Mission: Impossible—Ghost Protocol, Brad Bird is joining forces with the Lost leader (who co-wrote the screenplay with Entertainment Weekly senior writer Jeff Jensen) for 1952. As we said, details are very, very sketchy: The title evokes something in the postwar past, and some online scuttlebutt seems to think it's a UFO story.
As with all things Lindelof is involved with, from Lost to Prometheus, we'll know more when he's ready to tell us more. But the addition of Bird—who gave us two of Pixar's best, The Incredibles and Ratatouille—actually makes 1952 even more mysterious. And awesome.
