Why Doctor Who's Colin Baker says there should be a female Doctor

Sixth Doctor Colin Baker is very, very keen to have a female Doctor on Doctor Who and thinks there should be one. But you’d be surprised just how into the idea he is.

In fact, the actor so wants it to happen that he’d be prepared to have a sex change in order to take the role.

This is what the actor jokingly revealed in an interview at the Radio Times Covers Party. Baker says that he wants a woman to step into the Time Lord’s bigger-on-the-inside shoes, quipping that he’d be ready to do the honors if needed.

“There should [be a female Doctor]. It won’t happen because they are too timid but there should be. First female Doctor? I will have a sex change and do it.
“I am in touch with my feminine side.”

That's awesome, Colin.

Baker also went on to say he thought the show’s 50th-anniversary year was “fantastic” and that he’s looking forward to the Peter Capaldi era.

“Each new actor brings what they bring,” he said, adding that Capaldi did not need advice from other Doctors. “Just do what you want to do and be brave.”

Having a female Time Lord steering the TARDIS on Doctor Who is now an almost timey-wimey age-old debate, but do you agree with Colin Baker?
