Why Rian Johnson moved Kylo Ren's scar in Star Wars: The Last Jedi

When last we saw Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren, he was sporting a pretty gnarly scar through the middle of his face in the closing moments of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Well, he’ll look a little different when The Last Jedi arrives later this year.

Keen-eyed fans noticed the scar had shifted off the bridge of his nose in the early teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and Johnson confirmed that was his decision to move the scar left behind from that final battle. Why? Well, umm, because he thought it looked kind of dumb cutting across the middle of his face. Which, yeah, could certainly be distracting to look at for an entire film (and its subsequent sequels).

So, stop the conspiracy theories before they get started — it was just a minor design tweak from Johnson. Nothing more. OR MAYBE KYLO HAS BEEN REPLACED BY AN LMD AND DISNEY IS SETTING UP A STAR WARS/AVENGERS CROSSOVER.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens December 15, 2017.
