Wile E. Coyote getting his own movie, complete with screenwriters and anvils

The fine folks at Acme are about to start filling a lot of orders, all in the service of one Mr. Wile E. Coyote. The incredibly danger-prone Warner Bros. cartoon character will soon get his own feature film, and there is some Acme rocket-esque momentum on it today.

Deadline reports that the new film based on the Road Runner's biggest hater will be written by Jon and Josh Silberling (It's Always Sunny in Philadephia, Living Biblically), and produced by Chris McKay, who directed The Lego Batman Movie. The feature will be called Coyote Vs. Acme, so perhaps Wile is finally fed up with all of those explosive products.

Looney Tunes characters have tried to make big screen appearances before —  most notably with 1996's Space Jam, which attempted to fuse them with the classic comedic stylings of hoopster Michael Jordan; and 2003's Looney Tunes: Back in Action, which gave them the CGI treatment. Space Jam, raked in $230.4 million worldwide and remains a fan favorite, but Back in Action's $70 million global take may be part of the reason why we have't seen the Tunes back in action on the big screen since.

The Silberling brothers have often brought uproarious offbeat comedy to It's Always Sunny, so here's hoping that they will do the same here. There's a lot of potential for mayhem and cartoon violence, and all of it could smack audiences harder than a sack full of Acme anvils.
