Doctor Who is all about change. And it looks like we're headed for the next logical progression from a new Doctor.
It's Doctor Who betting season once again, where a cast rumor surfaces and we all speculate and argue over the likelihood that it's true or not.
The latest rumor? Jenna Coleman is leaving her role as companion Clara Oswin Oswald after the 2014 Christmas episode.
The Mirror (Aee: take this with a grain of salt) reported the news this weekend .
The conversations about Jenna’s exit have started, and a plan is in place which is being ironed out. By the time she leaves she will be one of the longest-standing companions ever. She has been absolutely brilliant in the role, but everyone agrees it is a part that should change after a period.
Well, it's certainly possible. Billie Piper stuck around as Rose Tyler for one series when David Tennant took the part of the Doctor from Christopher Eccleston. She kept the show steady during the transition period, but then moved on to start in shows of her own. Perhaps Coleman hopes to do the same.
The rumor also states that Jenna's departure was "very much a mutual decision" and that "the time is just starting to feel right and the feeling is that it could be a perfect Christmas storyline."
With all the talk of Clara not getting on with the new Doctor and having a new boyfriend in Danny Pink, there's certainly precedent for the character to be ready to make a strategic exit from the TARDIS.
Naturally, the BBC has been virtually mum on the subject, with only a BBC spokeswoman responding with "It’s speculation at this time. People will have to watch the series to see if she’s coming back or not."
What do you think? Are you ready for a new companion for our new Doctor, or will you miss Clara if her exit is imminent?
