Will Ferrell, star of Zoolander (Jacobim Mugatu), Elf (Buddy), Anchorman (Ron Burgundy), and The LEGO Movie (President Business), was involved in a major car accident Thursday night, reports TMZ.

The actor was riding with two others in an SUV in Orange County on the I-5 freeway in Aliso Viejo in Orange County when the car was, according to eyewitnesses, side-swiped by another vehicle, causing the SUV to flip over at around 11 p.m. Pacific Time.

It seems Ferrell did not sustain any major injuries, as he was seen talking on his cell phone when the firefighters were loading him into the ambulance. Based on the account of a witness, a woman in the actor's car was more badly hurt and could be seen bleeding profusely at the scene of the accident. Ferrell was discharged from the hospital a short time ago and is said to be doing just fine, writes Deadline, which also states that he was making his way home from a Funny or Die event. The comedy-based company was co-founded by the actor, director Adam McKay (The Big Short), and producer Chris Henchy.

While known for his more comedic roles, Ferrell has shown he's more than capable of drama in films like Stranger Than Fiction and Everything Must Go. For his next project, he's re-teaming with John C. Reilly (Step Brothers) for Etan Cohen's (Get Hard) parody take on the classic characters of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in Holmes and Watson.

A representative for Mr. Ferrell did not immediately respond to SYFY WIRE's request for comment.
