The DC Extended Universe (DCEU) has lagged behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe on the big screen (the small screen is another story). But in the coming years, we’re going to be seeing a lot more films from the company formerly known as Detective Comics, Inc. And if the rumors are true, we’re going to be seeing a lot more of Will Smith, too.
Smith, who will be playing Deadshot in Suicide Squad, may be reprising his role in the upcoming Batman movie, which may be titled The Batman—although IMDb says otherwise.
Latino Review suggests that the Batman movie, which will be directed by Ben Affleck, may not be a solo film. Which leads me to believe that either Smith could be taking a much larger villain role … or perhaps, as on infrequent occasions, they could be teaming up.
In the comics, Deadshot, aka Floyd Lawton, is an assassin who has gone, many guns blazing, against many DC superheros. But he has a particular hate-on for Batman, who had him imprisoned in the early days of their foeship.
According to Latino Review, Smith has signed on as Deadshot for multiple appearances. We’ll be checking out Smith and his many guns when Suicide Squad is released on Aug. 5, 2016.
