Ain't It Cool News has reported a massive rumor: The Wachowski brothers have been approached to reboot Superman as a trilogy of films.
Here's the grain of salt: The rumor is based on an anonymous source citing a German TV interview of director James McTeigue (V for Vendetta, Ninja Assassin), who has worked with the Wachowskis before.
According to the report, McTeigue confirmed that a film based on the Plastic Man comic was the next project in the pipeline for the Wachowskis, but that has been delayed indefinitely due to a major shakeup of projects at Warner Brothers.
The site adds that Superman Returns director Bryan Singer has refused to undertake a reboot of the franchise and has left Warner with no choice but to take a fresh creative direction. (Singer is supposedly looking to move on to his long-gestating remake of Logan's Run, to be produced by Joel Silver.)
The Wachowskis (the Matrix movies) are reportedly reviewing their options.
True or false? Stay tuned ...
