A good show might get even better if writer/director Alan Ball listens to the screaming fans who chanted a certain jut-jawed actor's name during the True Blood panel at San Diego Comic-Con. Let's see: Vampires? Check! Sexy Anna Paquin? Check! Bruce Campbell playing a vampire named Bubba? Hail to the king, baby!

It all took place as Ball discussed the Charlaine Harris novels and ruminated about characters he'd like to introduce. And that's when he mentioned "Bubba."

For those of you who haven't read Harris' books, Bubba is a vampiric Elvis Presley. (But don't call him "Elvis," he doesn't like that name.)

According to IGN:

Ball expressed his love for the character but then said he was hesitant to bring Bubba to the screen because he might not translate well. Ball told the crowd of Trubies that Bubba works in the books, but he might not work on HBO. Also, Ball was hesitant to bring in an Elvis impersonator. Then, almost immediately, came the shouts (by me, and three other guys) - "BRUCE CAMPBELL!" "Who?" Ball asked, not being able to hear us. And then the hundreds of people started yelling "BRUCE CAMPBELL!"

Reportedly, Ball then smiled and said, "Bruce Campbell, huh?"

Bruce Campbell, indeed.

We put it to you: Could you think of anyone—a single living person—who could do it better than Campbell?

Didn't think so.
