Brannon Braga's coming back to sci-fi ... maybe. Braga, who co-created FlashForward, served as executive producer on Star Trek: Voyager and Enterprise and acted as co-producer on Star Trek: The Next Generation, has sealed a hefty seven-figure deal with 20th Century Fox TV, where he's spent the past two seasons working on 24, Variety reported.

Though Braga is currently executive producer on 24, 20th Century Fox TV chairman Gary Newman said that the network was especially interested in his background in sci-fi. (In addition to his work on Star Trek, Braga also executive-produced Threshold for CBS.)

"Brannon quickly became integral to the success of the last couple seasons of 24," said Newman. "We thought it was a great idea to have someone as talented as he is here to develop. He's known for his ability to write genre programming, and as a studio, we love that programming. It takes advantage of all the new opportunities the digital world gives you to connect with your rabid fanbase."

"Creatively, Fox and I are very much aligned," said Braga. "The kind of shows they do and the way they develop, it's an innovative group. We get along very well."

There are no details yet as to what new projects Braga might tackle, and he indicated that he's not certain yet whether he'll return to sci-fi, pointing out that 24 was "my first terrestrial experience in quite a few years." But, he added, it remains a possibility.

How about you? What do you hope we'll see as a result of Braga's deal to develop new projects for Fox TV?
