Win a chance to tell Lucas what you really think of those Blu-rays

Many of us have wanted to tell George Lucas what we think of his changes to the Star Wars saga. Now one of us has a chance—because Lucas is auctioning himself off for an evening for a charitable cause.

Lucas is collaborating with Stand Up to Cancer, a charity that funds "high-risk," "high-impact" research to fight the disease, by putting more than 100 collectibles for sale on eBay. They're calling their project "Stand up and use the Force for good."

Any person with the financial means can win a date with George Lucas, which includes dinner at a San Francisco Bay Area restaurant of your choice. He's also bringing a few of his pals along: Francis Ford Coppola (The Godfather), John Lasseter (Toy Story), Chris Columbus (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone) and Phillip Kaufman (The Right Stuff).

Better yet, because this is a charity, the dinner with Lucas and friends may be tax-deductible (check with your accountant)—good news, considering the current bid is at $8,550.

Is a four-figure date too rich for your blood? You can find any number of lesser-priced items on the dedicated eBay page. Collectibles on the auction block include items from Lucasfilm's climate-controlled archives, as well as hard-to-find, limited-edition Master Replica props.

You wouldn't be buying a new toy ... you'd be buying a new toy in order to beat cancer.

Better hurry. Bidding ends on Sept. 23.
