The Winchesters keep grinding all the way to World War II in new Supernatural trailer

A decade in, and the Winchesters are still duking it out with ghosts and ghouls — and here’s a look at the long odds they’ll be up against when Supernatural returns next week.

It’s amazing to think The CW series has remained a consistent hit for 11 years, while actually managing to keep the quality relatively steady along that way. They did it by not being afraid to totally screw up the status quo, while still keeping the “Two Brothers Against The World” dynamic intimately familiar. It looks like things go even further here, with everything from time travel to the return of Lucifer (cue fanboy squee) and the cage. Oh yeah, and the Darkness is still out there, in case you've forgotten.

We get a few fleeting looks at the brothers as they travel back to World War II, as Dean seems to be imbedded on the crew of a submarine. The midseason finale revealed Lucifer had been manipulating much of the action up to that point, with Sam following what he perceived to be signs from God. Turns out, they were coming from somewhere a bit further south. It looks like all the key players will be pulled into the latest battle with Lucifer. Considering how much fun Mark Pellegrino has playing deliciously evil, it should make for a very fun (and likely brutal) 2016.
