Witches get freaky in 1st trailer for Rob Zombie's Lords of Salem

We can always count on Rob Zombie to bring the freaky, and his sixth feature film as a director seems to be no exception. The first trailer for Zombie's The Lords of Salem is out now, and it's a visual feast of weird, Satan-worshiping witches out for blood.

Starring Zombie favorites like Sid Haig and Zombie's wife, Sheri Moon Zombie, Lords of Salem explores what happens when a group of 300-year-old witches reawaken after torturous punishment ended their reign of terror in Salem, Mass., centuries earlier (maybe not exactly historically accurate, but it sounds like fun).

Though you might expect a wild, chaotic ride of gore, the trailer below actually seems a little more elegant and measured. But don't worry, there are still plenty of just plain disturbing things to look at.

Here's the official synopsis for the flick:

Heidi (Moon Zombie), a radio station DJ, receives a wooden box containing a record. Heidi listens and the bizarre sounds within the grooves immediately trigger flashbacks of Salem's violent past. Is Heidi going mad or are the Lords of Salem returning for revenge on modern day Salem?

Zombie's official site lists a 2013 release date. What do you think? Are you adding The Lords of Salem to your must-see list?
