All the teasers and mini-clips are over, and the first full trailer for James Mangold’s The Wolverine is finally here. Want to see?
The first complete trailer for the X-Men spinoff went live today, showing off 2+ minutes of glorious Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) vs. ninjas action, with a heavy dose of sci-fi drama thrown in for good measure.
The Japanese setting is a great fit for the story, which is based on the 1982 comic run of the same name by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller.
Mangold has promised this won’t be like any other X-Men film we’ve seen, and that’s even more evident after watching the trailer. This feels like its own thing, separate from the rest of the franchise and standing on its own. Of all the films that have featured the character over the years, this one definitely seems to take his immortality extremely seriously.
What happens to a man when everything he’s ever known or loved is destined to pass away? Check out the trailer above and let us know what you think.
The Wolverine opens July 26.
