A new teaser clip for Guillermo del Toro’s FX horror series The Strain has leaked online, heralding the arrival of something truly, epically evil.

The teaser clip aired during the NFC Championship game over the weekend, and though the network hasn’t actually released it online, an intrepid fan managed to capture the clip on television and has uploaded it for all of us to enjoy. So, yay.

The clip offers a foreboding look at New York City, which ends with the lights going out. Then some text takes over to announce “He is here.” Who is he? Those who have read del Toro’s books already know the answer, and we’d gather it has something to do with that ancient, evil strain of vampirism.

The series will follow Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll) with the Centers for Disease Control in New York City. Goodweather is called in to investigate a mysterious airplane that lands full of dead passengers, and things eventually escalate into a full-on battle for humanity’s fate.

Think one part Helix, one part vampires and one part del Toro. Yeah, we’re interested. The 13-episode series is slated to debut in July. Check out the teaser below and let us know what you think:
