There’s a World War Z sequel in the works, with Brad Pitt returning to star and produce the movie, and the actor is circling his Fight Club director, David Fincher, to come on board the zombie apocalypse movie.
According to Variety, sources claim that Pitt, Paramount and Skydance are in talks with Fincher to direct the second World War Z movie following the departure of J.A. Bayona, who left the project to helm Jurassic World 2. Apparently, Pitt has met with other directors, but it looks like his mind is set on Fincher.
It would seem Fincher and Pitt met two weeks ago to discuss the possibility of Fincher joining the zombie film. The talks “were initially lukewarm,” but now “negotiations are much further down the road.”
Even though Fincher is weary of sequels since his Alien 3 days, the site claims that the Gone Girl director is always open to listening to Brad Pitt when the actor reaches out to him. If Fincher does indeed sign on the dotted line, this would mark the fourth collaboration between the two.
Fincher has directed Pitt in Se7en, Fight Club and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. The two were also this close to working together on a reboot of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea for Disney a few years ago, but that never came to fruition.
