With the cameras set to roll on X-Men: Dark Phoenix, more information about the fourth X-Men prequel film (which was kicked off with X-Men: First Class) has emerged — including the possibility of the mutant-filled movie featuring this iconic comic book location.

Not only are we going intergalactic, but according to a recent report from Nerdist, sources have told them Dark Phoenix will (re)introduce Genosha to 20th Century Fox’s X-Men cinematic universe.

Genosha was created by Chris Claremont and Rick Leonardi for the pages of Uncanny X-Men #235 in the late 1980s. It was a fictional country (an island off the coast of Africa, to be exact) where mutant apartheid took place. Magneto took control of the place in the 1990s, which then became a mutant homeland, until the Sentinels wiped out most of the mutants living there.

The site also claims Michael Fassbender will have a new Magneto costume that will suggest the imagery associated with cult leaders, which probably means the Acolytes may also pop up. It was Magneto and his Acolytes who re-established a smidgen of peace and stability to Genosha before all hell broke loose between mutants and the remaining human population led by the Magistrates.

What do you think of the possibility of Genosha, as well as the Acolytes, featuring in X-Men: Dark Phoenix? The movie, directed by Simon Kinberg, will open on Nov. 2, 2018.
