While we're all waiting on the edge of our seats for the first Captain America: The First Avenger trailer to blaze across our TV screens this Super Bowl Sunday, a few new images from the highly anticipated Marvel film have emerged online, and they include the first clear (and one much less clear) look at his sidekick, James "Bucky" Barnes.
Not only are we getting our first look at Bucky (played by Sebastian Stan—who was recently seen in Black Swan), but we also get a first look at villain Heinz Kruger (Richard Armitage from Spooks), Private Lorraine (a really blond Natalie Dormer, The Tudors) and Col. Chester Phillips (the always awesome Tommy Lee Jones).
We also get a new pic of Captain America's sexy girlfriend Peggy Carter (the luminous Hayley Atwell, The Pillars of the Earth), as well as those meanie soldiers from
Cobra HYDRA and a faraway shot of Red Skull (Hugo Weaving) before disfigurement.
We also have some really cool images of Captain America himself, played by Chris Evans, who has revealed that he signed on for six movies and not nine, as was previously believed. Seems that nine was a scary number for the actor, who says:
"To be honest it was quite intimidating and scary to commit to nine films in a row. God thank you, we reduced the number to six [3 Captain America, Avengers 3] ... If all goes as planned, I embody Captain America until I am 40-years-old."
What do you think of the pics? Are you looking forward to the upcoming trailer—and ultimately, the movie?
Captain America: The First Avenger is coming to theaters on July 22.
